Mercaptor Community Service Project 1: Walk to Defeat ALS

Meaningful Community Service Projects: Project 1: Walk to Defeat ALS, East Bay Walk

On October 21, 2017, Mercaptor Discoveries participated in the Walk to Defeat ALS, East Bay, organized by the ALS Association Golden West Chapter. Members of Team Mercaptor Discoveries fundraised $2,120 to donate to the ALS Association Golden West Chapter with the help of family and friends. The fundraising fuels bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a cure for ALS. Esmeralda “Esme” Ponce was team captain and made a connection with Susan Korcz, Regional Director of Community Outreach for the ALS Association Golden West Chapter. Susan Korcz came in to our offices on February 6, 2018 to give us a presentation on the work that the ALS Association Golden West chapter is currently doing for ALS patients and present ideas on how Mercaptor Discoveries could be more involved in the ALS community.

Her presentation provided information on services they offer. On the Mercaptor Discoveries side, we introduced ourselves and gave Susan a summary on our research efforts and direction of our work in-house. We are looking forward to contributing and collaborating with the ALS Association Golden West Chapter in the future. Mercaptor plans to join the march again in April 2018!
